The non-parkable speed ramp was placed on the outside of the garage at a point farthest away from the pedestrian destinations which provided a safe, all-flat floor open parking environment.
The garage was designed for the highest level of service (LOS A) and included internal protected pedestrian walkways. Ultimately, the selected site moved patrons closest to their destination, significantly shortening the parking and walking time and provided the best flexibly for future campus master plans. Several site locations were considered and analyzed from a traffic, site, and pedestrian standpoint.
In addition to meeting the casino’s growing parking needs, the structure features two direct access points to the gaming floor and enables existing surface parking to be redeveloped into additional gaming and restaurant space. The Kimley-Horn team provided master planning, site assessment, parking layouts, civil and structural engineering, traffic planning, and construction phase services. Kimley-Horn designed this 1,400-space parking structure, located at the northwest corner of the WinStar World Casino property in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
